“Should I Keep My Personal and Business Social Media Separate?”

I recommend keeping your business’s social media separate from your personal social media.

I recently saw a provocative photo better suited for a dating profile on LinkedIn. It felt incredibly out of place. I couldn’t figure out what it had to do with mortgages.

Whatever you choose to post on your personal social media is entirely up to you, but you should really try to make sure that what you're posting on your business’s social media is in line with why your business has social media in the first place (Not sure? Read “What’s My Business’s Role on Social Media?”).

You can post personable content because people want to know that you’re a real live person, but you have to find that line.

For example, if you wanted to post about your kids, you generally should do that on your personal account. However, if it somehow is related to your business like they work for you, you sold them a house, or got them a really great deal on insurance then that makes sense. Just remember to be personable and professional rather than too personal.
